Lotus Lane was written as a diary. Each book was written from a different character's perspective. All 4 characters - Kiki, Coco, Lulu and Mika lived in the same street, they are neighbours. The concept is based on Kyla's childhood street she grew up in, and her neighbourhood friendships. All four girls also go to the same school.
Kyla used to doodle in her diary as a girl just like the girl's in Lotus Lane. Kyla would get in trouble from her teacher's for doodling in her diary instead of doing her schoolwork!
Kyla always gets suggestions for a fifth book in the series.
